What is a Softphone?

VoIP softphones are applications or “apps” that can be downloaded to a tablet, desktop computer or smartphone and allow you to make and receive voice calls through your chosen VoIP provider.

Combining a headset with a VoIP app on your desktop computer can also be an interesting solution for mobile hands-free calling. Very useful if you manage a busy work environment or a call center.

Choosing the right mobile VoIP application for you can often depend on your operating system or device. The best way to make sure you get the best service is to try different apps on your device and see which of them work best with your particular configuration.
